Project Overview
The 30th Street Station Redevelopment modernizes the historic William H. Gray III 30th Street Station while maintaining daily operations for Amtrak, SEPTA, and NJ Transit passengers. This $550+ million project includes extensive repairs and infrastructure enhancements throughout the eight-story, steel-framed building, originally constructed in 1933.
Key improvements cover structural and architectural upgrades, the addition of dining and retail spaces, expansion of an outdoor plaza, and modernization of operations facilities and Amtrak's corporate offices. Work is performed in phases to minimize disruptions. The project required a "Section 106" assessment under the National Historic Preservation Act, preserving the station's historic significance while enhancing its functionality.
